2S7 "Pion" 203 mm Self-Propelled Gun

In 1975 went into production a new Soviet 2S7 "Pion" self-propelled gun. The 203 mm 2A44 gun is mounted externally at the rear of the modified T-80 tank chassis. When deployed in the firing position a large spade is lowered to the ground to provide a more stable firing platform.
The "Pion" has been the most powerful conventional artillery piece since its introduction and it remains so today.

Producers:
- Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) "Kirovsk" Plant - tracked chassis (object 216) and final assembling,
- Volgograd "Barikady" Plant - artillery part.

8 pcs of 2S7 has been used by Polish Army from 1985 to 2006.

In museum since Sep 22, 2009.
