9K72 "Elbrus" (SS-1c "Scud-B") Tactical Ballistic Missile

The 8K14 (was later redesignated 9K72
"Elbrus") is a single-stage, short-range tactical
ballistic missile, using storable liquid propellants. It
is transported, and fired from a MAZ-543 wheeled (8x8) chassis.
The "Scud" was designed for targets such as marshaling
areas, major storage dumps, and airfields. The MAZ-543 chassis
gives the "Scud" missile system greater road mobility
and still preserves a great choice in selecting off-road firing
positions. "Scud" took part in Iraq-Iran war and other
local conflicts. In "Desert Storm" Iraq attacked with
"Scud" Israel and Saudi Arabia.
"Scud"-B have a rudimentary inertial guidance system
using three gyroscopes and carry warheads: HE (8F44, 982 kg),
chemical or nuclear (9N33) warheads.
Museum acquired the 9M72 missile with training version of the 9N33 nuclear 100 kT warhead (without MAZ-543 chassis) on November, 1999.
