9K31 "Strela-1" (SA-9 "Gaskin") low altitude surface-to-air missile system

The "Strela-1" (SA-9 "Gaskin") is a short-range, low-altitude surface-to-air missile system. The system consists of a BRDM-2 armored amphibious reconnaissance vehicle, chain-driven belly wheels removed and the normal turret replaced by one with four ready to launch container-launcher boxes. The original version of the Strela-1 was known as the 9M31 and used an uncooled first-generation lead sulfide infra-red seeker operating. The SA-9 is fitted with an HE-fragmentation warhead and proximity fuse. The vehicle crew of three consists of the commander, driver and gunner.
Reloading is performed manually and takes about five minutes.
