Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21F-13

The MiG-21F day fighter is a the first major production version of the popular MiG-21 series. It is the only one of many versions of this aircraft that have served in the air forces of many nations. The E-2 aircraft, prototype of the MiG-21 family, was first flown on February 14, 1955. Serial production began in 1958 and when production ended, a total of ca. 5000 MiG-21 have been produced in USSR. The aircraft was produced under a licensing agreement in China (as Shenyang J-7), Czechoslovakia and India. During the Vietnam War, MiG-21s were often used against U.S. aircraft. Since Sep 1961 total 581 Mig-21 (25 F-13, 84 PF, 132 PFM, 36 R, 36 M, 120 MF, 72 bis, 6 U66-400, 5 U66-600, 12 US and 53 UM) have been used in Polish Air Force.
