Ilyushin Il-28

The Il-28 is the first modern soviet medium jet bomber which
was first flown on September 8, 1948, and later produced for the
Soviet Air Force. Delivery of aircraft to air force units began
in summer 1950, but not used against UN forces in Korean War.
Il-28s had been exported in 17 countries (Warsaw Pact, third
world and Finland). 6316 aircraft had been built in USSR between
1949 and 1955. The aircraft was built under license in China
Aircraft Factory as Shenjang H-6.
Il-28s remained in Polish Air Force operational use from Oct 31, 1952
until 1977 (74 Il-28 bombers, 16 UIl-28 trainers, 9 Il-28R reconnaissance).
Poland using Il-28s as a bomber, reconnaissance, jet engines flying
laboratory and air targets bug also used.

Jun 1955, To 33th Bomber Squadron, Modlin (changed name and
location to 33th Reconnaissance Squadron, Powidz).
Apr 1969, To 7th Bomber Group, Powidz.
Aug 1974, To 15th Navy Reconnaissance Flight, Siemirowice.
On June 18, 1979 The aircraft was flown to the Babimost AFB and
transferred to Museum.
